The World of Somatia is an ongoing fantasy worldbuilding project that grew from my homebrew tabletop roleplaying setting and the maps I created for it.

In order to interactively visualize and edit various locations, and their political and religious relationships, I developed an interactive 3D map inside of Unreal Engine, synced to an online Notion.so database.

With a mix of Blueprint and C++ coding, I am able to easily push and pull location data to and from the note-taking online application.

The 3D terrain was created in Gaea, with further editing and optimization in Blender and Houdini, and textured in Substance Painter. Shaders are used to achieve close-up texture detail and various animations and effects.

I was then able to create a narrated fly-through of the Northern Realms using the Unreal Sequencer, with post-processing in After Effects and DaVinci Resolve, and audio production in Adobe Audition.

The video also showcases 3D Printable Miniatures I have been sculpting in Zbrush and Blender.
